Founders’ Day Dinner

Thank you to all who joined us for our 2020 virtual founder’s day celebration!

Mu Mu celebrated Alpha Chi Omega’s 135th Founders’ Day with a virtual event on October 8th. October 15th was the official anniversary of our founding at DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana. Our sisterhood is made up of Real.Strong.Women. that are leaders in many organizations and across the country. Mu Mu also celebrated our 106th anniversary on September 19. For those that didn’t get to connect to the call, we had a great time “seeing” each other. Although our in-person events are wonderful, it wasn’t possible this year. This was the next best way to celebrate our accomplishments and recognize and celebrate our sisters.

Joan Dougherty, Rose Brooks Director of Volunteer and Community Support, joined us to provide an update on all the challenges of COVID for victims of domestic violence and to thank us for our donation from our June Silence the Violence event. We donated $7,448.53 this year.

We celebrated milestone anniversaries for Nancy Delgado, Omicron, 10 yrs, Beth Peer Koch, Omicron, 25 yrs, Vicki Ferrrell Buening, Phi, 50 yrs, Sherry Snell Forsee, Delta Epsilon, 50 yrs, Debbie Skie Scrivner, Phi, 50 yrs, and Frances Holland Woodman, Phi, 75 yrs. These Real.Strong.Women represent the loyalty, values and enduring friendships that really show our sisterhood is not just 4 years, but for a lifetime. Virtual carnations and hugs to each of you. We continued the celebration of winning our 21st consecutive Continuing Excellence Award from National Headquarters.

We were joined by Phi Chapter President, Brooklinn Royer, and Delta Chi VP Ritual and Fraternity, Aydra Richards. We also received chapter updates from Gamma Zeta and Alpha Nu via email. They all shared updates on virtual recruitment and the campus life with COVID.

We announced and recognized our 2020-2021 Mu Mu Alpha Chi Omega Woman of the Year, Stephanie Muschall Lower, Zeta Sigma Chapter. Stephanie’s contributions to Alpha Chi Omega on many levels are to be recognized and acknowledged with our thanks. Wish she could have been with us.
The Traveling Lyre Trophy award went to Omicron Chapter for having the most members in attendance. We had representation from 10 collegiate chapters from across the country. Karen Blanks, Delta Epsilon Chapter, won the AX bracelet for paying her dues prior to Founders’ Day. There is still time to pay your dues this year. Mu Mu is blessed to have so many loyal sisters. Thanks to all who participated and helped with the event. Hope we are back at Milburn Country Club next year for this celebration.
