Welcome from the President

Greetings Alpha Chi Omega Sisters! The 61st Alpha Chi Omega convention was held in Bellevue, Washington, a suburb just east of Seattle, July 8-10, 2022. I was honored to represent Mu Mu and wear our centennial sash. The theme was “Together”. The 2020 convention was cancelled due to the pandemic, so it was special to BE TOGETHER. The keynote speaker was Judi Holler, author of Fear is My Homeboy. Judi challenged the group to make waves, live out loud and take action in our lives. Through interactive audience participation, she demonstrated the value of stepping out of your comfort zone and confronting fear for moving forward in life. The Alumnae Chapter Officer session speaker was Ginny Carroll, who owns the consulting business, inGiNuity. She addressed the generational differences in our membership and how to build synergy through understanding the values and motivations of each generation. The dinners each night were amazing times of reconnecting, AX songfests, and awards. Mu Mu was honored with Seeking the Heights awards for our efforts in Sisterhood and Membership Engagement.  Local collegiate chapters were honored with Seeking the Heights awards for Chapter Growth. Alpha Nu (University of Missouri), Delta Epsilon (Southeast Missouri State University), and Zeta Sigma (Missouri State University) were honored. Alpha Nu also received their centennial sash, marking their 100 years at the University of Missouri.

We will be starting off our year with our 17th Annual Silence the Violence event on September 28th at Silo-Canyon Farms Golf Club, 17501 W 87th St Parkway, Lenexa KS. This event is always a wonderful time AND it supports causes near to our hearts, Rose Brooks Center and Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. Over the last 16 years, we have raised over $120,000 for these groups. Please join us this year for the fun and support. Details for tickets can be found here.

Whether you are a new graduate, new to Kansas City, or just now have the time to get back to AX, Mu Mu welcomes you and hopes to see you at some of our programs in the coming year. The Alpha Chi Omega bond is for a lifetime, no matter when it starts. Your alumna experience can be anything you want it to be, and your Mu Mu AX sisters are here to help and support you. We have a great mix of activities to choose from, including monthly programs, Gamma (day time meetings), monthly Lunch Bunch, Young Alum outings, Mom and Tot, and fundraising/altruism events for family and friends. In-person or virtually, we will adjust accordingly. Please contact me or any other board member if you have any questions, need a ride, or need to learn about Zoom. Event schedules are subject to change, so watch for emails updates closer to events or check our Events page.

Many thanks to the 126 sisters that paid dues last year. We appreciate your support. Please consider becoming a dues-paying member. Your dues go to support programming, collegiate chapters, National dues, Panhellenic dues, Mu Mu activities, and scholarships. Thanks to all the loyal members that pay their dues, serve on the board, support our fundraisers through attendance and donations, and attend our monthly programs. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Loyally,

Beverly Wood Nichols, Alpha Nu ’75
